CINEMATIC SANCTUARY AT THE PIER: NO TIME FOR FISH & CHIPS

Very recently I (Lucy) took a stroll onto Penarth Pier, but it wasn't for fish and chips! This time I found myself in the revamped Penarth Pier Pavilion for a night of cinematic music and originals played by Ben Thomas and The Julian Martin Trio. I felt inspired to take some photos...

Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together. Some of my friends and family have been going through some very tough times recently (myself included). We all really love the music that Julian and Ben have been making and each gig has been like a nostalgic escape.

Being by the sea brings me moments of mental clarity and peace. I've spent a lot of time asking the infinite blue for answers recently! Bringing music to the water’s edge is a brilliant idea – an immersive soundscape against a beautifully lit backdrop of twinkling lights.

Ben’s arrangement of 'La Petite Fille De La Mer' by Vangelis' was the perfect soundtrack to the evening. The title translates to ‘The Little Girl From The Sea’ – it’s a beautiful song. The band played it brilliantly. It was a perfect moment.

Thank you to the Penarth Pavilion for a brilliant evening featuring Julian Martin (piano), Ben Thomas (trumpet), Ross Thomas (bass) and Ian Williams (drums).
